After Nora Lighting entered the lighting game over 20 years ago, it has proven to be the best light fixture supplier. Nora Lights are famous for bringing a modern but dependable edge to any home. Recessed lighting is one of the best options today. Let’s find out why.

Recessed lights are the most versatile lighting options available today, and that’s because you can use them for uplighting, wall lighting, or downlighting. They’re a great option when it comes to providing ambient light in different residential and commercial spaces, not to mention accent lighting to highlight artwork, furniture, or the walls. So, why should you use them at home?

Nora Lighting: What are Recessed Lights?

A downlight or a recessed light is a metal, light fixture that you can install above the ceiling line, into a hollow opening in the ceiling. This will give an appearance of light that shines out from a hole. This type of lighting will aim in the downward direction, similar to a broad spotlight or floodlight.

Features of Recessed Lights

To make recessed Nora lighting work, you’ll need extensive ceiling wires. This system involves a light-to-light connection, and it connects all the lights in series through a single cable. The recessed lighting has three main parts, and these are:

  1. Housing
  2. Trim
  3. Bulb

The housing is the fixture unit itself, and it consists of a lamp holder. For you to install this, you need to insert it into the ceiling.

The trim is the visible area of the recessed light, and it has a thin lining around the edge. You can view the trim when you look up at the fixture.

The bulb is the last part of the recessed light, and you insert it into the recessed lighting fixtures. You can use a variety of bulbs available depending on the amount of light your home requires.

Why Should You Use Recessed Nora Lighting?

There are several reasons why using recessed Nora lighting is a good idea, and here’s five of them:

  1. Using recessed lighting promotes minimalism in a room. The recessed lights tend to illuminate a room without any clutter, and it’s obvious in the case of ceiling lights.
  2. It’s the best option depending on the type of room. Recessed lighting is the best choice for homes with low ceilings since they don’t protrude from the ceiling. Traditional hanging lights often make a room look constrained, but low-roof rooms can benefit from recessed lighting. It guarantees good illumination and clutter-free lighting.
  3. Recessed lighting isn’t noticeable. Compared to traditional hanging lights, recessed lights aren’t as noticeable. If you want to highlight the appearance of your living room ceiling with no bulky fixtures, then recessed lighting is the best option.

These lights are also perfect for basements and other areas with low ceilings. Since they aren’t hanging from the ceiling, you wouldn’t need to worry about accidentally bumping your head into them while you walk around the room.

  1. Recessed lighting is always in style. Some lighting fixtures have designs and styles that always change over time. Take hanging fixtures and track lighting, for example. If you invest in these types of lighting, then you must be prepared to replace them when they become out-of-date. But if you use recessed lights, you wouldn’t have to worry about it going out of style.
  2. It lights rooms more evenly. Having recessed lighting means that you’ll need to use several lights in different areas of the ceiling. This provides rooms with more even lighting, compared to traditional overhead fixtures. Those lights only illuminate the area near it. Using recessed lights, you’ll have more even lighting, so your room wouldn’t have dimmer areas.

You can also use recessed lights if you want to illuminate the entire kitchen, so it’s easier for you to prepare food. You may also light the entire living room so you’ll have enough light for you to read books, regardless of where you sit.

When and Where do You Use Recessed Nora Lighting?

Recessed Nora lighting has three main uses, and these include the following:

  1. General or ambient lighting. You can use recessed lights as ambient lighting when it’s necessary, or when you need to brighten up a fully traffic space or room.
  2. Spotlight. If your room has space where there are focal points, say a fireplace or a piece of artwork, you can direct the special focus towards them by using spotlighting. You can fully achieve this by using recessed lights in this space.
  3. Wall washing. Did you know that you can install recessed lights on walls? The walls will beautifully bounce the light into space, unlike direct lighting. This gives us an appearance of wall washing.

How to Choose Recessed Nora Lighting

A lot of people argue about whether or not recessed Nora lighting should be LED or not. At this time, there isn’t a clear answer here, but choosing non-LED recessed lighting would be an unwise move. But then again, it all depends on your project. Note that some states and other municipalities require high-efficiency lighting or LED lighting for projects that need a permit. Make sure to always check your local code before you buy them.

In cases where LED isn’t a requirement, it becomes a matter of choice. Generally, the initial price point of LEDs is higher, and that’s because of the technology involved in its production. But keep in mind that even though they are more expensive, they also require lesser energy to run and maintain, thanks to their incredibly long lifespans.

Conclusion

Recessed lighting can be the best option for your home, but only to an extent. It’s an excellent way to add illumination to an entire room without taking so much space. And while that is true, you need to consider if it matches your room type. Just because it’s perfect for other people doesn’t mean it will be as perfect for you as it is for them.
