Years after the passing of Sri Chinmoy in 2007, his legacy lives on around the world, not only in his writings and videos but also carried on by the hundreds of thousands of people to whom he was a mentor during his life.
Meditation is a key part of one’s inner peace. As Sri Chinmoy taught:
When you soulfully meditate,
the first thing you get
and this peace
Marks the beginning
Of your heart’s journey
Along the path to perfection.
In all of Sri Chinmoy’s work, he combined physical activity – particularly long distance running and weight lifting – with meditation, which allowed him to achieve feats that many thought impossible before they had witnessed them.
“Meditation has two things to offer us: self-mastery and self-transformation,” he taught. “These two go together. When we meditate, immediately we have the beginnings of self-mastery, and when we have self-mastery we see that we cannot cherish ugly or un-divine thoughts; we cannot remain inside ignorance anymore.”
While Sri Chinmoy’s teachings live on at several websites devoted to his legacy (srichinmoycentre.org and the us.srichinmoyraces.org to name but two), devotees and those interested in learning more from this spiritual teacher can now turn to a free app.
The Sri Chinmoy Daily Meditations App is available for free in the App Store (for Apple devices) and Google Play (for Android devices).
This app features a collection of hundreds of Sri Chinmoy’s aphorisms, one presented daily in a choice of English, French, Portuguese and Italian, Czech, Russian, Ukrainian, Serbian and Finnish. Or the user can choose to have a saying delivered only on specific days, and specific times.
In addition, users can listen to Sri Chinmoy’s music, which is ideal for meditation or while walking or running.
Here are some samples of the sayings available in the Sri Chinmoy Daily Meditation App:
“How to achieve happiness? Not by giving not by talking, but by being.”
“A great leader is a great servant.”
“You follow your heart’s love. Your life’s happiness will follow you.”
“So easy to criticize the world; so difficult to offer even an iota of help.”
Whether the user is a devoted student of Sri Chinmoy or a beginner who has just discovered this spiritual teacher, this app contains much to inspire.
