A major deal has been brokered in the North West of England with the news that a photography firm has bought a creative agency from Stoke in a multi-million-pound acquisition deal. For a creative agency in Manchester or a branding agency in Liverpool the move just goes to show how popular and successful the whole industry has become in the North West, with improvement and standards set to rise even further with commitment such as this.
It makes everyone in the region stand up and take notice and believe that they are on the right track. The Chorley-based Blink-Photo has been operating under the parent company Blink Group and has put together a seven-figure sum to acquire CIC Creative (CIC). The Blink Group employs 50+ staff members at the Chorley office, as well as at the creative agency in Manchester, Blink MCR. The combined turnover of the two stands at £4m currently.
With the acquisition of CIC Creative, in Stoke, there will be a further 36 employees added to the books and a £2.2m turnover to add to the Blink Group. CIC has offices in Stoke and China and it is expected that managing director, Nicola Tayler will continue to operate in her current role to oversee the companies day-to-day operations.
Steven Livesey, director at Blink Group, said: “We’ve been looking to diversify our services for a couple of years now so when CIC became available we jumped at the chance. It’s a company that we have been aware of for a while and it’s always produced incredible work.“We’re getting an exceptional ready-made team with a ready-made customer base from CIC. The specialisms of the two-company’s complement each other well. This is an opportunity for us to grow our team of experts and establish ourselves in the market as a full-service offering.”
The acquisition allows Blink to branch out into international waters, with the Chinese studio that CIC owns being able to offer photography and CGI at source, help to design marketing and items before they arrive on UK shores. Currently, Blink-Photo specialises in model and food photography, with clients such as House of Fraser, Booths and Sainsburys since its formation in 2006. CIC has produced video production, branding and a wide range of digital services for clients such as Port Vale Football Club, MoBike, Victoria Plum and Morphy Richards.
Jon Hills, commercial director at CIC, added: “Becoming part of Blink Group strengthens CIC in terms of our skills and facilities, it also offers a huge boost to our clients and what we can offer them. It’s a pleasure to be working alongside Steven and Emma and we are looking forward to the future.”
It is an exciting time for the creative and digital industries in the North West, with many a creative agency in Manchester, digital companies in Liverpool and a plethora of branding agency in Manchester that really help to drive business in an effective way to their clients. This latest acquisition of two companies based in Chorley and Stoke, just goes to cement the whole North West region as a new powerhouse within the industry.
