Due to all the technology and research available, it has become very easy to collect information from your website visitors. There are many ways to collect this information, such as online live chats, online surveys and of course from platforms such as the all important Google Analytics. Each of these methods allow you to receive varying and unique information from customers or potential customers which helps your business grow and innovate faster. Now that collecting data is done digitally, it allows for larger samples which creates more reliable data. For example, now you can get a much larger sample size by sending a survey to thousands of people at once via email, which takes less than a minute and saves a lot of time and money. After you have gathered enough information, you can initiate many positive changes which is crucial and has a major impact on your business’s growth.

Asking The Right Questions

Now, to get answers that will give you actual actionable insights, you need to ask the right questions. This is where online surveys can really help you. A huge advantage of using online surveys is that you are able to capture a large audience. You can create a survey with very customized questions and answer options, or you can make it more to the point with simple questions, multiple choice answers, or a simple yes or no option. These surveys are very specific and therefore create unique feedback. Now, with this data received, you can understand multiple things. Here are three popular questions asked in surveys that give you important information:

  • What is your favorite product?
  • Why did you purchase this product?
  • How satisfied are you with this product?

It is crucial to know what your best selling products and least favorite products and what better way to find out then from the customers themselves? It is vital to understand what they loved or hated, which then influences the innovation process including which products are created next and which are not continued or made differently. It is also important to know the least sold product or the product with the worst reviews.

It is as important to know why the customer purchased the product and how satisfied they are with it. Those three questions alone tell you a lot. With more questions like these, you should focus on understanding the needs of the target audience. A change which can affect the company positively is to put less liked products on sale, which then can attract more customers. While you can also ask these questions via a live chat bot, it will take you longer to accumulate a critical mass of answers, so probably best to go the route of email.

Putting The Data To Work

By creating surveys, and also checking your website analytics to see the overall behavior of your visitors, you’ll have some real insights to work with. Now you can both make changes to your site or product, as well as better market it to your potential customers. Remember, marketing is a tool used to create and maintain demand, relevance, reputation, competition and more. When it comes to marketing, it is important that the customers are attracted and want more of it. After you collect data and understand your potential customers more, you can market and design the website tailored to those customers.

For example, if your analytics say that your customers like urban vibes, then think of a way to create a homepage that connects to that. If your analytics say that your customers like spending time on a specific part of the website, then maybe make that more accessible to them when reaching the website. Small changes like these can greatly add to your business. There are many brands that use big data analytics to help them in various ways. Netflix, for instance, collects data and uses it to steer their viewers toward particular content. They send subscribers movie suggestions that are based off of what they have watched and searched previously, which they have collected over a certain amount of time.

Companies will use the data they collect to improve their products and the customer experience. It helps companies innovate and redevelop their products. It is important to continuously track your products, competitors, and customer feedback so that you will have enough information to make changes and continue to grow.
