Life brings us many different challenges. Today, the average person must balance a job, family obligations, school, a social life, and more. I have experienced the feeling of drowning in life obligations. Some of these apps have been a tremendous help, and they may help you too.

Headspace

Headspace is one of the most popular meditation apps. It has themed meditations for everything from stress to sleep.

In addition to mediations for sitting down, it also has short, simple exercises for those who have a busy schedule. As a bonus, if you find yourself overwhelmed, it has activities to calm you down.

The headspace app can be downloaded for free, and it has free account options, with more features locked for those who subscribe.

LastPass

Almost every website requires an account, which means you need to remember a username and password for every single service you want to make use of. If you’re like me, that means you use America’s password for everything from your news subscription to your PayPal.

It can make me nervous, and I can only imagine how you feel. Luckily, there is a more accessible, and more secure way to do this. LastPass can be used with any device.

It stores all account information, including username and password. It’s contained in the app and takes a master password to unlock. From there, whenever you access a service on your mobile device, LastPass will pop up with the correct information.

Sleep as Android

Sleep as Android is an app that provides a massive help for sleeping. It can track your sleep cycle and play ambient sounds to help you fall asleep.

It can also set a smart alarm, which will wake you up at a time that is optimal for your sleep cycle.

If you’re looking for more in-depth sleep data, Dreem is a headband to enhance the quality of sleep. It works as an EEG sleep tracker and helps to improve sleep with several different features, including the ones above. Check out its reviews.

Epicurious

With a busy schedule, it’s hard to sit down and a healthy meal plan. As a college student, I know the struggle.

One app that can be a tremendous help is Epicurious. It has numerous healthy recipes for you to check out just using your phone, which helps eliminate that giant pile of cookbooks. As you choose recipes, it will also create a shopping list for you.

Cozi Family Organizer

My parents have four kids. Each kid goes to a different school and has various extracurricular activities. We have schedules everywhere, but we really don’t have to.

The Cozi Family Organizer creates:

  • Color-coded Calendar
  • To-do list
  • Shopping list
  • Recipes
  • Family journals
  • Daily agenda

Everything you need to keep track of for a family can be found right in this app.

MyFitness Pal

What is often the first thing on everyone’s new year list? And (let’s be honest) what’s the first thing to leave? There are thousands of fitness apps out there, with several confusing features. It’s quite challenging to find just one that will suit your needs.

MyFitness Pal does have a pretty simple format. It can track your heart rate, steps, stairs, and more. One of its best features is that it can scan a barcode on any food item and determine the nutrition facts and catalog it, so you know what you’re eating.

Evernote

You may have heard of Evernote, and there’s a great reason for that.

All your information in Evernote is stored in a basic note. You can organize your notes in books, and then furthermore, those books can be categorized. For example, if you have some for school, then some for work.

Evernote can do almost everything in the note-taking world, including:

  • Typed notes
  • Record lectures
  • Hold website clippings
  • Take written notes
  • Organize it all in easy to find categories

If you have many notes to keep track of, this is the perfect system.

Modern life is supposed to be simpler, and in many ways it is. But there are several ways it isn’t. Modern problems often require modern solutions, and these apps can help you go a long way.
