While we all hear how video games are a downside for kids but surprisingly there are some upsides as well, and we are going to talk about those upsides of benefits of video games for kids. We are not vouching for overplaying but in our free time, kids can play some useful games which can help them build skills, networking, learn something new, and more.

This is a broad topic where using some good games you can learn some new skills. Let me take an example and see how it can help. Usually, we try our kids to learn basic cooking skills like boiling eggs, boiling milk, and more. Now just think of having a game which can help kids learn how to boil eggs?
I was also looking for similar kinds of games and came across a site called Culinary schools which offers a variety of food-based games for all of us. Many of these games help you learn something and are very helpful. I tried many games and found a few very helpful especially for kids.
I would like to share my experience with one of my games- the boiled eggs. This is a free game which is browser-based, which means you don’t need to install anything to play this game. Once you open this game, you will reach the landing page where you should click on the begin button.
In the next screen, you will be shown the steps to play the game. Here is then summary of the rules to play the games-
1. Types of egg will be randomly selected
2. Eggs will be added when water is boiled
3. Try to maintain the temperature in the green meter, you can do this by pressing burn button
4. Maintain the heat score, if you overcook, it will lead to failure
Once you start, you will be getting a screen like below-
As you can see I am waiting for the indicator to fall in the green range and then I will click on the burn button. I clicked correctly and my score is now 100.
Once you’re done and when the game is over, you will be shown your best score. The idea is to select the best temperature and avoid overheating.
I found this game as one of the best video games for learning some basic cooking skills for your kid.
#2 Reading
Research has proved that kids who play video games improve their reading skill as well. This usually happens because games are interesting to play and they need to read instructions to play that game. This way, they end up improving their reading skill. Please note this in no way can replace books which are a great source of knowledge.
#3 Improve problem solving
We know almost all jobs require problem solving skills. So, if kids can start creating this as a habit what can be better than this? There are many games which can help your kid improve their problem-solving skills. If you want your kids to improve problem solving skills, let your kid try games like puzzles, mysteries, etc. Research has shown that kids who play video games, improve in many directions specific to- planning, organization, and flexible thinking.
